During the first Covid-19 lockdown, I found myself at home with my 18-month-old daughter — no childcare, nowhere to go, and a lot of time to fill. I began creating DIY activities and finding toys that would keep her engaged and stimulated. As an architect, aesthetics have always been important to me, so I was naturally drawn to resources that were both visually appealing and purposeful in supporting her development.
As I started sharing our journey on social media, I quickly realised how many other parents were searching for the same balance — meaningful play that was both enriching and beautiful.
In the first five years of life, children develop physically, cognitively, and emotionally at a faster rate than at any other stage. Experiences during these early years have a significant impact on their ability to learn and thrive, both in school and later in life. Through play, children build problem-solving abilities, fine and gross motor skills, language, creativity, memory, and concentration — all essential foundations for future learning.
