Ring Grab

The Ring Grab is a simple to set up activity for pre-walkers and can be done with a variety of materials including gift bows, pom poms, bits of ribbon or anything else your little one might enjoy grabbing! We used our Grapat rings from the Nins Carla set.

Materials:

  • Contact paper

  • Painters/decorators tape

  • Items to stick on

How to set up:

  1. Tape contact paper on to the wall with the sticky side out, and secure with painter’s tape.

  2. Add whatever bits and pieces you’d like to the contact paper. (Make sure they are supervised at all times if using smaller items)

  3. Let your little one loose! This activity can be done on their tummy or in a seated position.

Our son was 8 months old in this video

Great for:

Hand-eye coordination is required in everyday tasks such as grasping objects, handwriting, playing games, eating and cooking. As with other body skills, hand-eye coordination can be practised and improved upon. This development begins in infancy.

Motor Skills enable children to move and complete tasks independently which in turn will allow them to explore the world around them. This independence gives them confidence and promotes cognitive, speech and sensory development.

Balance is required in walking, climbing and even sitting. There are two types of balance, dynamic balance which is the ability to stay in position during activities that require movement such as walking. Static balance is the ability to maintain position during station tasks such as standing or sitting.
