Dollhouses
Dollhouses fall under the category of imaginative play; however dollhouse play is often more grounded in reality. Children often act out familiar situations while imagining different perspectives. This allows them to process things that may have happened in real life or to test out different personalities.
When toddlers are younger, dollhouse play is very much about positioning furniture, working out which items can fit into a space or through a doorway. These experiments are great for problem solving, spatial awareness and fine motor skills.
As children get older, dollhouse play becomes much more about dialogue and playing out scenarios which helps with language skills and social and emotional development.
Here at The Littlest Learners, we are a little bit obsessed with Maileg. There are lots of beautiful dollhouses out there, but Maileg furniture tends to be on the larger side so in this section we will be focusing on dollhouses that work comfortably with Maileg furniture.
