Early Puzzles

Puzzles have so many learning benefits. At this early age they help with shape recognition, fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, problem solving, focus and patience. As they get older it also helps to develop memory, strategic and logical thinking.

With my daughter, we introduced puzzles in stages, beginning with a chunky shape relief puzzle which introduced the idea of negative space. The magnetic puzzle was especially useful as they still haven’t got a great deal of fine motor control, so it helped that the pieces stay in place. There are also lots of great puzzles that make noise which can help make puzzles more exciting.
